In Manila, capital of the Philippines, Assumption opened its first community in February 2007. Its first task is to welcome vocations and train young Filipino religious.
The Assumptionist community in Manila is in the process of structuring itself. To this end, it would like the help of a volunteer in three areas:
1. The creation of a foundation website (in English, French, Spanish and Tagalog) and its ongoing updating (with the help of community members).
2. Participation in social actions, in conjunction with volunteer associations in Manila’s working-class neighborhoods.
3. Support for Manila’s French-speaking Catholic parish, which is also being restructured, particularly in terms of catechesis and youth work.
4. The creation of a development office to raise funds for the missions and coordinate the donor network.
The members of the community will help him to integrate into the country, society and Church of the Philippines, and will offer to accompany them in their activities, including service to the “squatter” communities.
