We spent 1 month at the Saigon orphanage where we taught French to the brothers and English to the children. At first it wasn’t easy to accept the cultural and educational differences. We had to learn to let go of our expectations, particularly what we thought we would bring to the children, and to accept certain frustrations such as the language barrier. We were touched by the welcome of the Vietnamese people, their generosity and their joy of living.
