Assumptionists, we are religious living in apostolic community (Rule of Life, 1)

The congregation of the Augustinians of the Assumption (A.A.) was founded in 1845 by Father Emmanuel d’Alzon. He wanted a religious family that was both modern and rooted in Tradition, i.e. sensitive, in every age, to the great causes of God and man. This was his vocation, as reflected in his motto: “Thy kingdom come!

Community life

Today, we are present on five continents, in over 120 communities and 30 countries. As disciples of Saint Augustine, we live our faith, prayer and apostolate in community. Together we are called to take up the three great challenges of religious indifference, exclusion and injustice.

A variety of apostolic commitments

Our motto:
“Thy Kingdom Come” encourages us to work for the coming of Christ’s Kingdom in us and around us”.

RULE OF LIFE, 13

We are people of faith and communion, in solidarity with the poor. As such, every field of action is open to us in bearing witness to the Gospel: among us are parish priests and journalists, theologians and pilgrimage leaders, teachers and missionaries… Some are priests, others not, but all are disciples of Jesus at the heart of a world they love.
